Fact Check: No, This Video Is Not Of ‘Ram Temple Fund’ Rally From Ujjain

Bajrang Dal and other right-wing organisations recently took out a rally to raise funds for construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Later, reports started surfacing that stones were allegedly pelted at the procession when it was passing through Begumbagh area in Ujjain, a minority dominated area in the city.

Soon,  a video of a rally started doing rounds on social media claiming to be of the Ujjain rally.

(Translation: Yesterday stones were pelted in Ujjain. And today this is the scene! Don’t provoke us #Hindus, let the atmosphere of harmony prevail in the country, or else will you will suffer!!!)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false and misleading.

With the help of InVID tool, we got keyframes of the video. On putting the keyframes through Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on PlayTube dated Apr 30, 2020, which clearly means that the video is old.

With the help of keywords, we found a similar video on YouTube dated April 13, 2019, claiming that the video is of Ram Navami Shobha yatra held in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, led by RSS and BJP.

On comparing the viral screenshot 1 and viral screenshot 2 with the 2019 YouTube video, we can clearly see that the video is of the same event and location.

Moreover, we found the longer version of the exact same video on YouTube dated April 13, 2019, with the title “Ram Navami biggest celebration Gulbarga Shobha Yatra 2019”.

We also found that the same video was uploaded on YouTube in March 2018 too. The title of the video read, “Ram Navami Full Crowd In Karnataka Gulbarga 2k18.”

To track the exact location of the video, we found the picture of the Mosque on Google Maps Images.

Further, we found the exact address of the mosque, which is situated in Gulbarga, Karnataka.

For further confirmation, we tracked the exact location of the mosque on Google Earth.

Hence, we can conclude that the video was taken in 2018 in Karnataka and is being falsely linked with fundraising rally for Ram Temple in Ayodhya held in Ujjain.

Don’t fall for false and misleading claims.
