A picture of a bird’s eye view of an island has gone viral all over social media. It is being claimed that the picture is from the Ganga shores in Banaras, India.
The Facebook caption read, “गंगा किनारे बनारस का मनमोहक दृश्य लेकिन कुछ देशद्रोही इसे दुबई का बताएंगे”
(Translation: Beautiful view of Banaras along the Ganges. But some traitors will call it Dubai)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false.
On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture on Pinterest claiming that the picture is of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah island.
We then searched for Palm Jumeirah on Google Maps and found that the Google maps view is similar to the viral picture.
Moreover, we also compared the viral picture and Google Earth picture, which gave us a confirmation that the viral picture is from Dubai and not India.
In conclusion, with the help of the above information, we can say that Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah island picture is falsely being claimed to be from Banaras, India.
