A few pictures of hair art on a camel’s body is being shared on social media with a claim that the pictures are from Pakistan.
“the art of camel barbering (Pakistan),” the caption of the Facebook post read.
Here’s the link to the above post.
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be misleading.
We checked the pictures individually and found the following-
We noticed a text in one of the pictures that read ‘Unth Utsav Bikaner’ (Camel Festival Bikaner). We also noticed that a picture of a Hindu deity, Hanuman, was made in the artwork.
We then put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found the same picture in a tweet from 2015.
“Bikaner Camel festival in Rajasthan, India featuring competing for best ‘hair cut’, this has to join the #bucketlist,” The tweet read.

This proves that the image is old and from Bikaner. However, we could not, independently, ascertain the origin of the picture.
Image 2 & 3
We got our first clue from a Facebook user, who attributed the pictures to Anas Hamdani.
We ran a Reverse Image Search along with the mentioned name and found an article by The Dawn originally published in 2015, featuring the same image. “Eid makeover: The art of camel barbering,” the title read.
According to the article, the man seen in the pictures is identified as Ali Hassan. Hassan is a farmer by profession who belongs to a small town of Tharparkar and has learned the art of camel hair designing from his forefathers. Every year, he visits Karachi a few weeks before Eid-ul-Azha in a bid to get a reward for his unusual artistry.
This proves that the other two pictures in circulation are old and from Pakistan.
Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the post in circulation is misleading.
