To instill confidence amongst the public, US President-elect Joe Biden received the Covid-19 vaccine shot live on television on Monday.
This move is aimed at bolstering confidence of Americans with regards to efficacy of the vaccine.
After getting vaccinated, Biden said, “there’s nothing to worry about” when they get vaccinated and that in the meantime they should keep wearing masks and “listen to the experts.”
Today, I received the COVID-19 vaccine.
To the scientists and researchers who worked tirelessly to make this possible — thank you. We owe you an awful lot.
And to the American people — know there is nothing to worry about. When the vaccine is available, I urge you to take it. pic.twitter.com/QBtB620i2V

The President-elect got the Pfizer vaccine at the Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. It has been reported that his wife Jill received the shot earlier. Last week, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife got vaccinations but President Donald Trump is yet to get the shot.
They were one of the latest high-profile political figures publicly joining the first wave of vaccinations. Earlier, other supreme leaders including President Obama and Bill Clinton have announced that they will take the shots publicly to boost public confidence.
Biden’s live stream has come across as a big push to the vaccination drive aimed at stopping a pandemic that has killed almost 3,18,000 Americans.
