A massive war of words has broken out between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. With Nitish mounting a personal attack on Tejashwi, the RJD leader on the last day of the Bihar assembly session, went all guns blazing against his bete-noire.
In a no holds barred attack on Nitish, Tejashwi alleged that Nitish Kumar was an accused in a murder case during 1991 parliamentary elections. He also claimed that the Chief Minister was involved in a plagiarism case. He referred to a case in which Kumar was fined Rs 25,000 for plagiarism. Miffed Nitish dissmissed all the accusations made against him and dubbed them as baseless.
In a case lodged on November 16, 1991, Kumar, who was then the Samata Party lawmaker from Barh, was named as an accused, along with others, for the murder of one Sitaram Singh, who was killed during the Lok Sabha polls that year.
Irked Kumar slammed Tejashwi for raking up old cases and said, “He is uttering nonsense. He is trying to malign my image by spreading propaganda. I listen to him only because he is the son of a brother-like friend. Does he even know who made his father the leader of the Legislative Assembly? But these allegations cannot be tolerated.”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Chaudhary defended Kumar and said that the matter has been dismissed by the Apex Court thus it is not be appropriate to raise the topic in the Assembly. He also requested Assembly Speaker Vijay Sinha to drop the accusations made by Tejashwi Yadav from the proceedings of the House.
Nitish targeted Tejashwi over corruption charges against him which incidentally was one of the reasons for the split between JD(U) and RJD.
“Does he remember who made him Deputy Chief Minister? When he was accused of corruption, I asked him to reply but he did not and that’s why we split up. I am not saying anything but there is a chargesheet against Tejashwi,” said Kumar.

Lalu’s son Tejashwi was in no mood to mellow down. While talking to the media, he said that he was being targeted by everyone without any solid proof. “From PM to CM, everyone is targeting me. CM became enraged when I raised the 1991 murder case, but all I said was that he should have resigned to let a proper investigation take its course,” he said.
