Gurugram: Police now authorised to attend weddings to check  implementation of COVID protocols

In the latest update from Haryana’s Gurugram, the Haryana police officials will now keep surveillance on COVID-19 protocols being followed in weddings and large gatherings in the city.

This came after it was made mandatory by the top authorities to follow guidelines properly after the sudden surge in the cases.

As per the latest order issued by Gurugram police commissioner KK Rao, the cops are allowed to attend any marriage events in the city without invitation or prior information.

The notification also allows police officials to issue fines to those not wearing masks. They will also keep a check on guests and urge them to follow guidelines like social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Haryana government has brought in some stringent laws seeing the rise in the cases in the state as well as neighbouring states. In the wake of this, Random testing of people coming into the city from Delhi is also being done.

A rise in COVID-19 cases in Haryana as on Monday, the state reported 2,663 new cases taking the caseload to 2,19,963 while 28 deaths pushed the fatality count to 2,216.
