3 maoists in Bihar killed in encounter with security forces in late night gunbattle

In a late night development on Saturday around midnight, 3 maoists were killed in an exchange of gunfire at Gaya district in Bihar. A most wanted maoist leader Alok Yadav, who was the Maoist zonal commander was one of the those killed in the encounter. Yadav carried a reward of Rs.10 lakh.

The operation was called out by troops of the 205 CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) and the Bihar Police. One AK-47 rifle and one INSAS rifle were recovered from the encounter site. The gunbattle took place at the Barachatti forest area which is 100km from Patna.

The official press release said, “There was exchange of fire between 205 CoBRA commandos and maoists at Mahuri village area today morning when a cultural programme was going on near a temple.”

Security forces started search operations around 12:20pm after they got reports that Yadav had killed two people in the area.
