Suryakumar Yadav opens up about altercation with ‘King’ Kohli

Mumbai Indians’ batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav has cleared the air on his relationship with Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) skipper Virat Kohli. The Mumbai Indian(MI) batsman produced several match-winning knocks in the recently concluded lucrative Indian Premier League(IPL).

Yadav is among the 12 batsmen who have scored 350-plus runs in this year’s IPL and his 155-plus strike rate is second only to Mayank Agarwal in that group.
His stare down episode with Kohli grabbed eyeballs.

The world saw Kohli resorting to a negative game plan like walking up to him and giving unnecessary stares during the match between MI and RCB.

Yadav, in an interview, denied any differences with the legend. The MI batsman revealed that Kohli praised him for his breath-taking knock but also admitted that it was extreme pressure while he was in the middle.

He said, “After the game, it was completely normal because he walked by my side and he said, ‘Well played, great knock, and all that stuff.’ It was normal like just another day like how you meet your friends and practice. For the 60-65 minutes for which I was batting, it was under a lot of pressure but I really enjoyed that innings.”

Yadav played a match-winning knock of unbeaten 79 off 43 balls against Kohli-led RCB. Suryakumar has evolved as a classical batsman, who can hit the ball hard as well as glance it fine according to the need of the hour.

Despite his flamboyant and exquisite display of cricket, he couldn’t feature in India’s limited-overs squad for the tour of Australia. Many veteran cricketers like spinner Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir criticized the selectors for not giving the young rookie a chance.

“Don’t know what else Surya Kumar needs to do to get picked in the team India. He has been performing in domestic cricket as well as in the IPL. Different people, different rules. I request all the selectors to see his records.” Harbhajan Singh on Twitter.
