Foiling a major terror bid, Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists from Sarai Kale Khan on Monday night. The suspected terrorists are residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Delhi Police acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid near Millennium Park in Sarai Kale Khan and the suspected terrorists were nabbed at around 10.15 pm. The terrorists have been identified as 22-year-old Abdul Latif and 20-year-old Ashraf Khatana , residents of Baramulla and Kupwara respectively. Delhi Police recovered two semi-automatic pistols along with 10 live cartridges from them.

“On the basis of the information a trap was laid near Millennium Park, Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi and at about 10:15 PM. 2 suspected militants who are residents of Jammu and Kashmir namely Abdul Latif resident of Sopore, Baramulla and Mohd Ashraf Khatana resident of Kupwara have been apprehended. 2 semi-automatic pistols along with 10 live cartridges have been recovered from them,” Delhi Police’s Special Cell said.

The suspected terrorists were reportedly planning to flee to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) via Nepal after carrying out the terror attack in Delhi.

Delhi Police had arrested ISIS operative Yusuf Khan earlier in August from Dhaula Kuan area after a brief exchange of fire averting a major terror strike in the national capital. Besides the arrest, cops had also recovered 15 kg Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from him.
