As of 1 PM, Delhi’s ITO had AQI 476, which comes in the severe category. Air quality in the National Capital Region has remained “severe” for the last three days, after weeks of being in the “poor” to “very poor” category.
Amid growing air pollution, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a total ban on sale, purchase, and use of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR starting midnight of November 9 to November 30.

Nationwide, the order will also be applicable to “cities and towns where the average ambient air quality in November last year was ‘poor’ or worse”, the green tribunal said.
The Indian Medical Association (IMD) has said that at least 17.5 per cent of Delhi’s coronavirus cases since October-end are associated with air pollution.
As per experts, severe air pollution has harmful effects on healthy people, while it severely impacts those with respiratory diseases.
