Santoshi, wife of late Colonel Santosh Babu, who laid down his life during the Galwan Valley clashes this year, has been appointed as trainee Collector in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district by the state government. Earlier, Santoshi had joined as Deputy Collector in the Revenue Department.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had assigned senior bureaucrat Smita Sabharwal to assist Santoshi in settling down in her job. Col Babu’s wife had joined the department on August 16. She received her appointment letter on Monday from Anita Ramachandran, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district collector.

Colonel Santosh Babu was the Commanding Officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who sacrificed his life in June’s Galwan valley clashes between Indian and Chinese troops. Nineteen other soldiers had also lost their lives in the incident.
Telangana Chief Minister had met Col Santosh Babu’s family on June 22 in Suryapet. He had handed over a cheque of Rs 4 crore to Col Babu’s wife Santoshi and another Rs 1 crore cheque to his parents. The CM also allocated a plot of 711 square yards, in Banjara Hills, to the family. During this visit, CM KC Rao had promised a Group-1 job to Santoshi.
