Twitteratis blast at Mukesh Khanna over his sexist comment on #Metoo

Iconic superhero of the 90’s ‘Shaktiman’ made it to the news again but this time it was not for his acting. Mukesh Khanna, who came into the limelight with the role of ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ in BR Chopra’s iconic serial ‘Mahabharata’, has become deeply involved with controversies.

An old video of Mukesh Khanna has once again surrounded him in controversies.

In the viral video, Mukesh Khanna can be seen expressing his views on the MeToo movement and has expressed his objection to women working out of the house. What is being called a misogynistic statement, Mukesh has said, ‘The problem of #MeToo began when women started working out and putting themselves equal to men. Commenting on the role of women in society, he also said that ‘the job of a woman is to take care of the house.’

In the video he can be heard saying, “Aurat ka kaam hai ghar sambhalna, jo maaf karna mein kabhi kabhi bol bhi jata hu . Problem kaha se shuru hue hai #MeToo ki jab aurato ne bhi kaam karna shuru kar diya Aaj aurat mard ke saath kandhey se kandha milani ke baat karti hai.”

Reacting to it, a Twitter user wrote, “Mukesh Khanna is the cautionary tale of how living in the past glory can be dangerous. His attention-seeking words reek of desperation. He wants to get validated by more misogynistic men & be hailed as a hero that he never was. Media needs to stop normalizing such sexist men (sic).”
