Yet another horror story of rape and torture has come to light, this time from Odisha. A 17-year-old girl from Cuttack was kidnapped by a man and taken to a farmhouse where she was raped by him and another man for 22 days.
A resident of Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district, the minor girl had run away from her house last month after she picked up a fight with her parents. While she was waiting to board a bus to return home at a bus stand in Cuttack, a man offered to drop her home on his motorcycle.
Instead of being taken back home, she was then taken to a poultry farm in Gatiroutpatna village and held her captive in a room for 22 days where she was repeatedly gangraped.
Acting on a tip off, cops raided the farm house and rescued the girl. The accused – identified as Santosh Behera and Rakesh Rout – have both been nabbed by the police.
The girl was later produced before the district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) from where she has been sent to an orphanage.
In Chauliaganj PS Case No.353 dtd.13 Oct u/s376 DA,376(2)(n) IPC,6 POCSO Act,both accused- Santosh Behera & Rakesh Rout have been arrested within 24 hrs of reporting. Investigation will be completed early for both accused to stand trial & justice done.

The incident triggered a massive political fight with the BJP and Congress launching a stinging attack on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in the state. While BJP’s state general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar accused BJD government of having failed to ensure safety and security of women, Congress spokesperson Nishikant Mishra said the gangrape showed how unsafe women are in Odisha.
