Contactless wash basin-An innovation during the covid-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has made the world more innovative and hygiene has become a major factor to combat the pandemic. One of the new innovations is the contactless wash basin, that can be installed in public establishments like restaurants, hospitals and corporate organizations. This is part of the initiative where washing hands and sanitizing becomes an important aspect during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We decided to come up with a cost effective hand washing solution to combat COVID-19. That is how me and my team came up with a contactless, pedal operated, foot operated hand washing station. We launched this in June. We started with the single wash basin, How this works is, it has two pedals. It is a hands free product.” Explains President Preeyam Budhia, business development Patton Group. The contactless wash basin was put together by the team which wanted to work on serving the community during the pandemic.

One of the pedals is for the soap dispenser and the other is for water. The idea is avoid touching the basin in public places and yet ensure hygiene. The basin comes with 200 and 500 litre water retaining capacities and a soap dispenser. There are options of single and double contactless basins which range from Rs.9000 to Rs.14,000.

“For COVID there are three main things, to sanitize your hands, maintain social distancing and wear masks. Of these three things, a major part is solved with the contactless wash basin and I am sure it will be useful.” Said Arnab Gupta, Medical Director and Cancer Surgeon, Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute, Thakurpukur.

“I found it very useful. It is contactless, we use our feet. It is quite compact.” Said Shantanu Dutta, Administrative Officer, Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy.

Innovation is the name of the game, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This makes the contactless wash basin a product for many to consider.
