40-kg Explosives Seized, Security Forces On High Alert As Maoists Plan Attacks With An Eye On Bihar Polls

Will Red Terror cast its shadow in the upcoming Bihar elections? Going by inputs received by the security agencies, Maoists could be working out a strategy to derail the poll process.

As per intel inputs, a special Maoist squad has already reached Jamui in Bihar from neighbouring Jharkhand to orchestrate a deadly IED strike to sabotage the biggest festival of democracy. The squad, as per inputs, is being led by one Bablu Santhal along with his other key comrades.

Not willing to take any chances, an alert has been sounded in about five districts of the state already and security has been stepped up along with increased vigilance. Incidentally cops have also foiled plan to disrupt Bihar assembly polls by being able to seize 40 kg of explosives. Stocked in three buried plastic containers was ammonium nitrate, enough to cause extensive damage.

Bihar’s Special Task Force (STF) and security forces carried out a joint operation and unearthed this huge cache of explosives from a Maoist hideout in Maniksthan forest area under Jhajha police station area in Jamui district.

On seeing the security forces, the Red ultras fled from the spot leaving behind the explosives before disappearing into the forested areas.

As per inputs, a core team of about 5-6 Maoists have also arrived in Bihar from Chhatisgarh, and they are planning to launch a guerilla attack on the convoy of security forces in the forested areas.

Besides planting explosives underground, Maoists are also planning multiple explosions in villages adjacent to the Jamui border and nearby districts.
