From Rhea to Deepika, the biggies under NCB radar; here’s what’s ‘smoking’ in Bollywood

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday summoned Karishma Prakash, who is the manager of Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, and CEO of KWAN talent management agency, Dhruv Chitgopekar, for questioning in connection with the drugs case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.


Earlier, actor Kangana Ranaut in a tweet slammed her colleague Deepika Padukone, sharing a news clip on Twitter, Kangana wrote, “Repeat after me, depression is a consequence of drug abuse. So called high society rich star children who claim to be classy and have a good upbringing ask their manager, ‘MAAL HAI KYA?’.” Kangana also added the hashtags #BoycottBollywoodDruggies and #DeepikaPadukone to her tweet.

The alleged chat between a person with the initials ‘D’ and a person by the initials ‘K’ from October 2017, has gone viral. The transcript is as follows:

D: K…Maal you have?

K: I have but at home. I am at Bandra…

K: I can ask Amit if you want

D: Yes!! Please

K: Amit has. He’s carrying it

D: Hash na?

D: Not weed

K: What time are you coming to Koko

D: 11.30/12ish

D: Till what time is Shal there?

K: I think she said 11:30 because she needs to at the other place at 12

Apart from Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh’s names have also surfaced in the case. The NCB will soon be summoning these actresses for questioning. As per reports, Sara, Shraddha, and Rakul used to party with Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty and others at Sushant’s farmhouse in Lonavala.

Actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik were previously arrested by the NCB in the drugs angle that the agency is probing. On Tuesday, a special NDPS court extended the judicial custody of actor Rhea Chakraborty till 6th October. Rhea’s 14-day judicial custody was slated to end today. The latest update state how Deepika Padukone could soon issue her statement in this matter.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the case. However, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are conducting their separate investigations in drug and money-laundering angle, respectively.
