This policeman in Alabama in the United States would never have thought that the one he arrested several times would be the person to save him.
40-year-old Jocelynn James, one on the state’s ‘Most Wanted List’ – who is now a recovering drug addict – came to the rescue of former police officer Terrell Potter by donating one of her kidneys.
James came across a post circulated on Facebook of the former officer’s daughter with an appeal to help her father. Potter has been waiting for about eight years for a kidney donor and never would he have imagined he would come face to face with James again this way.
Though James did not read the entire post or Potter’s name, she knew she had to help this gentlemen by donating one of her kidneys. In July this year, James successfully donated one of her kidneys at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville and the two of them are doing fine post that.

James who has been sober for several years, battled severe drug addiction, which led to her losing her house and car. With no option left, James resorted to breaking in to other people’s premises to fund her drug habit. This led to her arrest 16 times between 2007 and 2016, with officer Terrell being one of those to arrest her several times.
Realization struck for James and she turned herself in to the Police authorities after seeing her name flash on the news channels in the state’s ‘Most Wanted List.’ After a six month term in jail followed by rehab for nine months, James is now committed to helping other women like her to kick the habit and transform their lives. But the one life she has transformed, will remain strongly imprinted on both Potter and James’s minds.
