SSR case: NCB arrests 2 men, seizes ‘curated marijuana’

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested 2 men from Mumbai, one of whom had connections with Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda, who himself has been booked by the CBI in a case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The NCB also seized curated marijuana from their possession.

“Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested one Abdul Basit Parihar from Bandra, Mumbai. He had a connection with Samuel Miranda. Miranda is accused of procuring drugs on instructions of Showik Chakraborty (Rhea Chakraborty’s brother),” the NCB said.

Another man named Zaid Vilatra was also arrested from Mumbai in connection with the case.

“In a separate incident, on the intervening night August 27-28, based on specific input, a raid was conducted at Mumbai and two persons namely Abbas Lakhani and Karn Arora were arrested and seizure of bud (curated marijuana) was affected from their possession. The detailed network analysis and in follow up investigation, uncovered the linkages of Abbas Lakhani with one Zaid Vilatra,” read a release by the NCB.

“After due procedure and taking evidence on record, Zaid was apprehended. During the search Indian currency (Rs 9,55,750) and foreign currency (USD 2081, 180 British Pound, 15 Dirham) was recovered, regarding which Zaid disclosed as proceeds of drug peddling,” it said.

Meanwhile, Varun Mathur, a friend and business partner of Sushant Singh Rajput in a firm, left the Enforcement Directorate office after three hours of questioning. His questioning had begun at 11 am. Earlier today, Rhea Chakraborty’s father Indrajeet Chakraborty and Rajput’s friend Siddharth Pithani reached the DRDO Guest House, where the CBI team investigating the case, is staying.

The Enforcement Directorate is also interrogating Samuel Miranda. On July 31, the agency had registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in the SSR case after an FIR was filed by Sushant’s father KK Singh, against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on July 28.

On August 19, the Supreme Court had handed over the Sushant Singh Rajput case to the CBI, while stating that the FIR registered in Patna was legitimate.

The CBI had registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty, Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Shruti Modi, and others in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
