Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Police records director Mahesh Bhatt’s statement

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt recorded his statement in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case in Mumbai on Monday. Rajput, 34, was found hanging at his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14.

So far, the police have recorded statements of–director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra, actor Sanjana Sanghi, filmmaker Aditya Chopra and Rajput’s friend Sandip Singh, among others. The actor’s girlfriend, actor Rhea Chakraborty, has also given her statement to the police.

On Sunday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said besides Mahesh Bhatt, producer-director Karan Johar”s manager has also been called to record the statement and if needed, Johar himself will be asked to do so.

Summons have also been sent to actor Kangana Ranaut, asking her to record her statement, the minister said.

According to police, Ranaut is currently in Manali.

Rhea had demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into his suicide. ”Respected @AmitShah sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It is now over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government, however, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry,” she tweeted.

The police are investigating allegations that professional rivalry, besides clinical depression, drove the actor to suicide.

Rajput starred in films like “Shuddh Desi Romance”, “Raabta”, “Kedarnath”, “Chhichhore” and “Sonchiriya”. His most prominent role was that of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”.
