India reported 475 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 26,506 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Health Ministry Friday morning update, total confirmed cases in the country now climbed to 7,93,802. There are now 2,76,685 active cases and 4,95,513 people have cured/discharged/migrated. The death toll now stands at 21,604.

1. The Uttar Pradesh government will impose fresh restrictions in the state from 10 pm Friday till 5 am on Monday (July 13). However, essential services will be allowed and trains will continue to operate.

2. Health Ministry on Thursday said India has not yet reached the community transmission stage of COVID and asserted that there have been localised outbreaks in some geographical areas.

8. Gujarat reported its highest single-day rise of 861 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, which pushed its overall tally beyond the 39,000-mark, the state health department said.

9. Kerala on Thursday recorded the biggest single-day spike of 339 infections, taking the count to 6,534, as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan cautioned that the state was “very close” to the threat of community spread.
