Even as the state opened up its gates for tourists, Goa on Thursday observed the highest single-day spike with 95 confirmed cases.
The official figures were declared even as local hotels prepared themselves for the arrival of domestic tourists. However, on the positive note, the state also observed the maximum number of recoveries i.e. 64.
This took the total tally of recovered cases to 734 cases, almost near to the total no. of active cases i.e. 744.
Considering the rising number of cases in the country, the Goa government had released a set of precautionary guidelines for travellers on Thursday, who were planning to come to Goa.
According to the guidelines, around 250 hotels are allowed to operate and take bookings from Thursday onwards. Once a tourist enters the coastal state, the tourist has to mandatorily visit the nearby tourism kiosk where they will undergo basic thermal screening and document verification process. Tourists are left with two choices, either they can carry a COVID – free certificate with them ( tested in the past 48 hours) or get tested at their own cost at the state entry point.
The guidelines are further divided into three parts- Pre-travel, Post-travel, and while traveling. So the tourists are required to pre-book a hotel, if they choose to stay at one, and are supposed to fill a self-declaration form available at the accommodation unit.
Guidelines also describe particular routes and state entry points to be used by tourists during traveling.
In any case, if a tourist is discovered to be positive for Coronavirus, the person will be asked to either go back to their respective state or avail treatment in Goa.
