COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Friday morning

India reported 407 deaths and the highest single-day spike of 17,296 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people infected with coronavirus to 4,90,401. The death toll now stands at 15,301.

According to the Health Ministry Friday morning update, there are now 1,89,463 active cases and 2,85,637 people have cured/discharged/migrated.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this morning:

1. Maharashtra witnessed a massive spike in COVID-19 cases, with 4,841 new cases being reported on Thursday.  With this, the total number of cases in the state now stands at 1,47,741.

2. Central team to visit Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana from June 26-29 to help strengthen efforts for management of COVID-19.

3.  Indian Railways on Thursday cancelled all regular mail or express, passenger and suburban services till August 12. Passengers would get a full refund.

4. CBSE has decided to cancel the Class 10, 12 Board exams 2020 scheduled from July 1 to July 15, 2020.

5. Reversing his own order, Delhi LG Anil Baijal Friday said that only those COVID positive patients who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would require to be shifted to COVID Care centres and other facilities for assessment.

6. 3390 new COVID-19 positive cases, 64 deaths and 3,328 recoveries reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours. Total number of positive cases in Delhi stands at 73.780, including 44,765 recovered/discharged cases and 2429 deaths: Government of Delhi

7. Gujarat reported 577 new COVID-19 positive cases and 18 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of positive cases surged to 29,578, including 21,506 cured/discharged and 1,754 deaths: State Health Department

8. 442 fresh cases of COVID-19 and six deaths recorded in Karnataka on Thursday, taking the total number of active cases to 3,716 and death toll to 170: State Health Department

9. 45 deaths and 3,509 new COVID-19 cases reported in Tamil Nadu Thursday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 70977, death toll 911. Active cases stand at 30064: State Health Department

10. 123 persons tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 3726. The number of active cases stands at 1761: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan
