Shun Chinese equipment: Govt to BSNL, MTNL
The govt has sent a firm message to state-owned telecom companies BSNL & MTNL to not use Chinese equipment in the upgradation of the 4G infrastructure. The telecom department has also decided to rework the tender in this regard. The government is also considering asking private operators to reduce their dependence on equipment made by Chinese firms.
Oppo cancels live online phone launch
China’s Oppo canceled the live online launch of its flagship smartphone in India on Wednesday after calls of boycott Chinese products got louder following the death of 20 Indian soldiers in a clash with Chinese troops at LAC in Ladakh. Oppo was planning the“live unveiling” of its new Find X2 smartphone models.
India’s GDP likely to contract by 5% in FY21: Fitch
Fitch ratings expects economic activity to contract by 5% in the fiscal year ending March 2021 (FY21) from the strict lockdown measures imposed since 25 March 2020, before rebounding by 9.5% in the financial year 2022.
