India-China talks lead to a breakthrough, both sides disengage in Ladakh

A sustained dialogue between India and China has led to a breakthrough in the border standoff as both armies have withdrawn from either sides, according to ANI who quoted top government sources.

According to the information available, the People’s Liberation Army has moved back its troops and infantry and combat vehicles by 2.5 kms around the Galwan Valley, Patrolling Point 15 and Hot Springs Areas.

It has been reported that India too has withdrawn some of its troops.

This initiative will be followed up with further local commanders’ level talks which will be held later this week.

The two countries after weeks of intense clashes around the Western Sector (around the Pangong Lake) decided to engage in a dialogue at the military and diplomatic levels.

It was only on Saturday that the two local military commanders met and held a dialogue, a day after the Foreign Office consultations were held.
