Highest spike of 7,964 new COVID-19 cases and 265 deaths reported in the last 24 hours in India.
The total number of cases in the country now surged to 1,73,763, including 86,422 active cases, 82370 cured/discharged/migrated and 4971 deaths. The death toll stands at 4,971.

1. Maharashtra recorded 116 deaths on Friday, the highest number of deaths due to COVID-19 in a single day. The death toll stands at 2098. While 2,682 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported, taking the total number of cases to 62,228.
2. Delhi witnessed its sharpest spike of 1,106 cases on Thursday, taking the total number of cases in the national capital to 17,386 cases, State Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Friday.
3. Total 3,840 Shramik Special trains have run till May 29 carrying around 52 lakh passengers, Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board announced on Friday.
4. Karnataka on Friday recorded as many as 248 cases of COVID-19, the biggest single-day spike, with most of them involving people who returned from Maharashtra. One death was also reported.
