Fact Check: Picture of Shiv Ling from Rajasthan being shared as image from Mecca

Date:

A picture of a Shiv Ling is being circulated online with a claim that it was found in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city.

“इतिहास मे पहली बार मक्का मदीना का शिवलिंग दिखाया गया हे सभी हिन्दू भाई चुके नही शेयर जरूर करे” the caption read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be false.

We put the image through Reverse Image Search and found a link to a blog post from 2016, that featured the same image.

According to the blog, the picture is from Pandu Hill Cave, Viratnagar, Rajasthan.

We found the same image on a website, Maps of India, and the picture caption read, ‘ 12 faces of Shiva on the phallus sculpted within the cave temple at Pandu Hill’.

We also found a travel video on YouTube, featuring the temple. According to the video title, it is from Virat Nagar.

The Shiv Ling in the viral picture is clearly visible in the video.

The above information proves that the picture in question is not from Mecca but from Rajasthan. Hence, the claim attached above is false.
