COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Wednesday morning

India registered 6,387 new cases and 170 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to 1,51,767 on Wednesday. This includes 83,004 active cases, 64,425 who have been treated and discharged and 4,337 deaths.

1. India’s recovery rate has improved to 41.61% while the fatality rate remained the lowest in the world at 2.87% now, said the Ministry of Health Tuesday.

2. Taking suo motu cognisance of the plight of lakhs of stranded migrant workers across the country, the Supreme Court on Tuesday pointed out the “inadequacies and lapses” in the handling of the crisis and issued notices to the Centre and state governments on steps taken to “redeem the situation.”

5. Delhi reported 412 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the city’s tally to 14,465 cases, according to the daily health bulletin released by the Delhi government.

6. 2,091 new COVID-19 positive cases and 97 deaths were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 54,758.
