Fact Check: Video of COVID-19 mock drill from Colombia shared as real

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a video is doing the rounds on social media in which a man can be seen in physical discomfort, struggling to walk and eventually falling to the ground.

Further, in the 3 minute-long video, a few men in PPEs arrive in an Ambulance and seal the area and put the man in the body bag. The caption of the video urges people to be careful as the man ‘died within 5:00 minutes’.

The caption in Hindi read: “आँखे खोलने वाला सच।देख लो 5 मिनट नहीं लगेगी मौत आने में ।अभी भी वक्त है मेरें दोस्तों संभालो अपने आपको।”

The video was shared with the same claim by several users on social media. The posts can be seen here, here and here.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and found that the claim attached to the video is false.

Firstly, we closely observed the video frame-by-frame. Our attention was drawn towards the Ambulance in the video which read ‘AMBULANCIA’ which is Spanish for Ambulance.

Meanwhile, the watermark on the video read – Pitalenos de Coraz which also Spanish.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search along with relevant keywords. We found the extended version of the video on Facebook, uploaded by Laboyanos.com on April 28, 2020.

According to the caption, the video is of a mock drill which was conducted in the wake of Coronavirus in El Pital town in Colombia.

Hence, the above information put together proves that the video in question is NOT of a real incident but a mock drill from Colombia.
