British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has presented a new lockdown plan and said that the existing lockdown will remain in place at least until June 1.
This comes in the backdrop of Britain reporting around 32,000 deaths due to Covid-19. It is second only t US in terms of death toll.
Experts have also warned the government of this number moving up to anywhere beyond 100,000 if the lockdown restrictions are lifted immediately without adhering to any cautions.

In UK, people who cannot work from home will be permitted to travel to their work places, with immediate effect,
From Wednesday, residents will be permitted to take unlimited number of workouts outside as long as they adhere to physical distancing norms.
“You can sit in the sun in your local park, you can drive to other destinations, you can even play sports but only with members of your own household”, said the British PM.
However, he cautioned against immediate withdrawal and lifting of the lockdown. In this regard, he said:
“This is not the time simply to end the lockdown this week. Instead, we are taking the first careful steps to modify our measures.”
According to the Government from June 1, phased lifting of the lockdown may be explored.
Schools may be provided an opportunity to reopen at the earliest to prepare the students for the examination ahead.
Other establishments may be permitted to reopen gradually.
