Republic network CFO S Sundaram is being interrogated by the Mumbai Police since 10.30 am on Saturday. The interrogation has been going for over 5 hours.
This comes days after Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami was grilled for over 12 hours by the Mumbai Police.
“In response to repeated media queries, the Republic Media Network confirms that its group CFO and member of the senior management team S Sundaram is being interrogated at the NM Joshi Marg Police Station since this morning,” Republic TV said in a statement.
“As of now, he is in the 5th hour of his questioning. This is regarding the case filed by the Congress leaders against Arnab Goswami. The Republic media network stands by Mr Sundaram, and is cooperating with the questioning being done by the Mumbai Police on charges levelled by a Congress Minister in the Maharashtra state govt,” the statement added.

Sources said that this interrogation appeared to be a “ploy to put pressure” on Republic Network since the CFO or the management team has little to do with Editorial decisions in a newsroom.
On April 27, the Mumbai police interrogated Goswami for over 12 hours at the N M Joshi Marg police station. He was interrogated over his comments wherein he criticised Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s silence over the recent lynching of seers in Palghar.
Goswami, on April 24, was granted three-week protection from arrest by the Supreme Court in cases pertaining to his on-air criticism of Gandhi.
