Nationwide lockdown extended for two more weeks beyond May 4

New Delhi: The central government on Friday has announced the further extension of the nationwide lockdown for a further period of two weeks starting from May 4th, 2020.

Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to further extend the Lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond May 4.

“A large number of other activities are allowed in the Red Zones. All industrial and construction activities in rural areas, including MNREGA works, food-processing units and brick-kilns are permitted,” MHA said.

The home ministry outlines the a series of instruction for multiple zones, in red zones, outside containment zones, certain activities are prohibited in addition to those prohibited throughout India. These are: plying of cycle rickshaws & auto rickshaws; taxis& cab aggregators; intra-district&inter-district plying of buses&barber shops,spas&saloons

Home Ministry orders further said that in Orange Zones, inter-district movement of individuals & vehicles will be allowed for permitted activities only. Four-wheelers will have a maximum of two passengers besides the driver & pillion riding will be allowed on two-wheelers.

Meanwhile, 130 districts are under the Red Zone, 284 in Orange and 319 districts in Green Zone.
