With India witnessing a new steep rate of rise in cases, the COVID-19 numbers have now crossed the 24,000-mark.
Here are the top 10 developments in India this Saturday morning-
1. India reported 1,429 new cases and 57 new deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the country has now risen to 24,506.
– Total active cases: 18,668
– Death toll: 775
– Cured/discharged cases: 5,063
2. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday exempted all shops under the Shops and Establishment Act including shops in residential complexes and market complexes, from revised consolidated lockdown restrictions.
The relaxations are not applicable in hotspots and containment zones.
3. Tripura Government has removed State Health Secy and Mission Director of National Health Mission from their posts for alleged irregularities in purchasing medical kits, protective gears, medicines for fighting COVID-19. An investigation has been ordered.
4. Delhi Air Cargo Import cleared 50 tonnes of COVID-19 import cargo at Delhi Airport imported by M/s HLL Life Care Ltd containing 5,45,000 units of medical isolation goggles and 5,30,000 units of masks.

5. As many as 70 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Rajasthan on Friday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to past the 2000-mark as it now stands at 2,034.
Out of the total cases, 776 are from Jaipur, 316 from Jodhpur, 144 from Kota, 11 from Tonk, 107 from Bharatpur and 106 from Ajmer among others.
6. India’s recovery rate is now at 20.57%, as per the Health Ministry. The doubling rate of coronavirus cases now stands at 10 days.
7. Amid the lockdown, Himachal Pradesh government has launched ‘Har Ghar Pathshala’ programme to provide home-based teaching facility to students so that their studies do not suffer.
8. Haryana government directs private schools to only charge tuition fees during lockdown.
9. IIT-Delhi has developed COVID-19 test kit that has been approved by ICMR.
10. One All India Institute Of Medical Sciences-Raipur nursing officer has tested positive for COVID-19. He was posted in COVID Ward and was in quarantine since 14th April.
