In addition to dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Karnataka government is monitoring the outbreak of bird flu in the state.
Here are the top developments from the Southern part of India:
1. The neighbouring state of Goa has banned poultry products from Karnataka due to the bird flu situation in the state. The Health Department has said that it is monitoring the situation.
2. The Tamil Nadu government’s decision to enforce a strict lockdown from tomorrow in the three cities of Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai has led to panic buying of essential items. Visitors were greeted by empty shelves in the various departmental stores.

3. The Karnataka government has announced that the ‘Plasma Therapy’ trials have begun in the state. Patients who have tested positive for the virus shall be a subject matter of the test.
4. Andhra Pradesh has crossed the 1000 mark and is now reporting a total of 1016 cases after 61 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
5. The number of cases is on the rise in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar islands which has reported seven new cases. The total number of cases stands at 29.
6. The conflict between Karnataka and Kerala is on the rise. After Karnataka erected a checkpost on its border with Kerala, the latter has now erected one at Talapady.
7. Malayalam super star Mohanlal has donated a robot to the state government. These robots will now serve COVID-19 patients.
8. Peddapalli district in Telangana has now been declared COVID-19 free.
9. The Hongasandra area in Bengaluru will now have door to door survey conducted by BBMP. Pregnant women, senior citizens and those with chronic illness will be identified as they are the most vulnerable.
10. The Telangana High Court has asked the state governments to explore alternate options instead of using the unscientific option of using disinfectants.
