In recent times, the ‘Maze’ ransomware has affected the IT systems of various entities and the controller then has access to all confidential information. An extortion attempt is then made to the company concerned that all confidential information will be leaked online and a large sum of money is demanded to handover the control back to the company.

In recent times, the city of Pensacola in Florida amongst others has been affected by this virus.

In this particular case, the hackers have denied their actions. However, it doesn’t mean that they are not guilty of it.

The IT Act of India penalises cyber crimes in the country and the National Cyber Crime Coordination Center tracks all cyber crimes that take place in the country.

India has been ranked as one of the most vulnerable to cybercrime attacks, according to various reports by the private sector companies.
