Fact Check: Old congregation picture being falsely shared as lockdown violation in Karnataka

A picture of a huge congregation at Yediyur Siddalingeshwar Swamy Temple is being shared online with a claim that the people have crowded the place on April 16, 2020, during the ongoing lockdown because of COVID-19.

“Karnataka, Siddha Lingeswara, yesterday ” the text on the post read.

We found more posts with a similar claim on the internet.

We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found the original picture on Chandravana ashrama website.

The picture was taken on April 12, 2019, during the Yediyur Siddalingeshwar Swamy Jathra (chariot festival).

The above information proves that the picture is old and it was not taken during the lockdown.
