According to various reports, the US has decided to investigate the origins and get more details on the ‘Wuhan virus’, also known as COVID-19.
Many in the intelligence community believe that this virus was created in a lab in the Wuhan institute of Virology and was man-made in nature. They add that it wasn’t meant to be released but was released by mistake.
Supporters of President Donald Trump are pinning their hopes on this investigation to deflect attention from the President’s alleged mishandling of the crisis. The Joint Chief of Staff, Chairman Mark Milley, acknowledged that the US is having a hard look into the origins of the virus.

He said: “I would just say, at this point, it’s inconclusive although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural. But we don’t know for certain.”
The diplomatic cables of the US State Department too had in 2018 indicated that the Chinese were certainly building something in the institute.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has rubbished these claims and has pointed out that the WHO report has confirmed that this virus had natural origins and was not synthesised in a laboratory.
Globally, the virus has affected more than 2 million people, with the US being affected most severely due to this virus.
