The World Health Organization’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom on Friday warned against the immediate lifting of the lockdown and said that it will have disastrous effects.
In a virtual press conference Organised from Geneva, the chief said that the WHO was working with nations to gradually lift the lockdown.

Presently over half of humanity is in a state of lockdown. And the WHO said that the COVID-19 virus can spread fast with the immediate lifting of the virus.
Previously, the body had praised India for initiating the process of lockdown and taking precautions in terms of dealing with the virus.
The WHO also said that while the cases were stabilising in Europe, it was a matter of concern that the US was emerging as an epicentre.
The situation in Africa was also described as perilous as villages too have been affected, thereby hampering health care services.
