Fact Check: This video of foreigners chanting ‘Mahamrityunjaya Mantra’ is not from COVID-19 hit Italy

A video is being shared on social media where foreigners can be seen chanting ‘Mahamrityunjaya Mantra’. It is being claimed that the video is from Italy, after it was hit by the pandemic.

“इटली में महामृत्युंजय का जाप हो रहा है
🙏 जय हो भोलेनाथ 🙏” the caption read. 

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found the claim to be false.

We extracted the keyframes of the video using the InVid tool. The reverse image search on the video keyframes led us to the same video uploaded on Vimeo on July 6, 2018.

The same video was also uploaded by a Facebook user on January 30, 2017. As per the user, the video is from Germany.

NewsMobile couldn’t independently verify the origin of the video. However, it can be safely said that it is not from Coronavirus hit Italy.
