The United Kingdom has recorded 1019 deaths and the total number of corona virus related cases stands at 17,301 as of Saturday.
The nation is struggling to contain the spread of this deadly virus, even as a nationwide lockdown has been announced.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had earlier this week announced that the nation will be in a state of lockdown and all but essential services shall remain closed and those violating the lockdown shall be punished severely, in accordance with the established laws.
The Prime Minister himself, the Health Secretary and Prince Charles have all tested positive for this virus. These are some of the high-profile individuals who have been affected.

However, the WHO had earlier warned that it will not be Italy and Europe but the US that will be the new epicentre of the virus.
This appears to have come true. The US has recorded over 1,05,500 cases and over 1000 reported cases.
The US too has enforced a lockdown and announced a fiscal stimulus package of USD 2 trillion to tide over the economic complications caused due to COVID-19.
World over, 3 billion people are in a state of lockdown as the number of positive cases have risen to 6,22,450 and over 28,600 deaths.
