Community transmission phase of COVID1-19 will start if the people and the government don’t follow guidelines and work collectively, the Health Ministry said in its daily briefing on Thursday.

- Social distancing can play a key role in breaking the chain of coronavirus transmission, said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in Health Ministry.
- 42 fresh coronavirus cases and four deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases stands at 649.
- 17 states have started work on earmarking hospitals for dedicated treatment of COVID-19 patients.
- While the numbers of COVID-19 cases are increasing, the rate at which they are increasing appears to be relatively stabilizing. However, this is only the initial trend.
