Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday witnessed a political crisis with the ruling Kamal Nath government facing a crisis over numbers.

News reports suggested that many ruling party MLA’s had crossed over to the BJP and were being held in the ITC Grand Hotel in Manesar and another prominent hotel in South Delhi.

Some of the MLA’s who have been rescued by senior Congress leaders such as Digvijay Singh include Ramabai (an MLA from the BSP), Bisahulal Singh (Congress) and others.

There are reports that six other MLA’s are being held in a South Delhi hotel. News reports have emerged that these MLA’s will now being moved to Karnataka which is also a BJP ruled state.

The Congress targeted former BJP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan of leading this conspiracy. However, this was denied vehemently by him. He pointed towards factionalism within the Congress party.

Kamal Nath has the support of 120 MLA’s in a Legislative Assembly whose strength is 230. Congress won 114 seats and BJP won 109 in the elections conducted to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
