Situation normal in West Delhi, refrain from rumours, says police

West Delhi DCP on Sunday rejected claims of tensions in various parts of west Delhi and urged the public not to fall for such rumours.

“A rumour has been noticed that there is some tension in Khyala-Raghubir Nagar area of West District. There is no truth behind it. All are requested to keep calm as the situation is absolutely normal and peaceful,” West Delhi DCP tweeted.

In a separate tweet, Delhi Police said some anti-social elements were spreading rumours to disturb peace. “It has been observed that some anti-social elements are spreading rumours to disturb peace. People are advised to neither spread nor trust the rumours. Law and order situation of the whole city is under control,” it said.

Delhi Police warns of action against those spreading rumours of violence

The Delhi metro services at seven stations were stopped for a short period of time on Sunday evening after rumours of violence in the West and Southeast Delhi region. The services were resumed later.

The services were stopped at Tilak Nagar, Nangloi, Surajmal Stadium, Badarpur, Tughlakabad, Uttam Nagar west and Nawada metro stations.

A week after violence erupted in northeast Delhi, three more unidentified bodies have been recovered on Sunday, raising the death toll to 45. No fresh cases of violence have been reported and in the midst of heavy police deployment, there was a movement of people and vehicles on the main roads. So far 167 FIRs have been filed while 885 people have been detained, Delhi Police spokesperson said on Saturday.
