If AAP leaders found guilty, give them double punishment: Arvind Kejriwal on Delhi violence

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said if any Aam Aadmi Party person is found guilty in Delhi violence then that person should be given double punishment.

Addressing a press conference, he said: “Any person who is found guilty should be given stringent punishment. If any Aam Aadmi Party person is found guilty then that person should be given double the punishment. There should be no politics on the issue of national security.”

The Delhi CM also announced compensation to families of those killed in riots. “Delhi government to give Rs 10 lakh to families of those killed in riots, Rs 5 lakh to those seriously injured,” he said.

For those injured in the violence, he said that the Delhi government will bear the expenses of treatment even in at any private hospital under ‘Farishtey Dilli Ke’ scheme.

Kejriwal further said that the state government will set up special camps for people to get documents burnt during arson and violence.

The death toll in the violence that began on Sunday has risen to 37 on Thursday. Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under Delhi Police Crime Branch and all the FIRs have been transferred to the SIT.
