A GoAir flight, G8-802, bound to Bengaluru from Ahmedabad caught fire at the Ahmedabad airport and was immediately towed away.
As per the airline, the engine of the Bengaluru bound flight caught a ‘small’ fire at the time of take-off. The fire, however, was doused and all passengers and crew members were safe. They were to be evacuated from the plane, after it was towed off the runway. This was revealed by GoAir in a statement. The number of persons on board, however, could not be immediately known.

The statement read – “The right engine of GoAir flight G8 802 from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru is suspected to have suffered from a foreign object damage (FOD) while on take-off roll. The suspected FOD resulted in a small fire which has been doused.”
All passengers and crew are safe and no emergency evacuation was deemed necessary, it said.
