Amit Shah asks Delhi CP to take stringent action over Jamia firing incident

Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said he had asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to take stringent action over the firing in Jamia Nagar.

“I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner over the incident of firing in Delhi today and have given directions to take the strictest action. The Central government will not tolerate any such incident, action will be taken seriously and the guilty will not be spared,” he said.

A student has reportedly been injured after an unidentified person opened fire at protesters, who were agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), near the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi.

The injured Shadab Farooq is a student of the second semester of MA Mass Communication and was injured on his left hand.

He has now admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
