Fact Checked: This viral heartwarming picture of Koalas is not related to Australia bushfires

Following the deadly Australian wildfire, a picture of a Koala embracing its baby is doing rounds on social media, claiming that they were rescued from the recent Australian bushfires.

The text on the picture read: Mother and son rescued in Australia wildfires. The image reflects what animals feel.”

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by over 62,000 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, we found it to be old.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we came across the same picture on Instagram which was uploaded on October 11th, 2019 by zookeeper_dan.

On digging further we found another post with the same picture on the Instagram handle of Australian Reptile Park dated July 08th, 2019.

Hence, the above information proves that the viral picture is old and not related to recent Australia wildfire.
