Railway station vandalised in Kolkata? Here’s the truth behind the viral video

In the wake of recent anti-CAA protests, a video of people vandalising a railway station hs gone viral on social media with the claim that the people in the video are Bangladeshi refugees and the incident took place in Kolkata.

The caption of the video reads:This scene from Kolkata, these are Bangladesh Refugees, they don’t have any citizenship, if they dare to do this even without citizenship what happens after giving them Citizenship, God bless our Country.”

The video has extensively shared by Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile Fact-checked the viral video and found the claim attached to it to be FALSE.

Observing the video carefully, the name of the railway station-‘ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া’ (Brahmanbaria) is visible.

Using the relevant keyword(s) search on Google – ‘Brahmanbaria railway station vandalism’ – led us to a report by Daily Sun which reported, ”Six cases have been filed against some 5,000 people in connection with Tuesday’s violence in Brahmanbaria district town over the death of a madrasah student in a triangular clash.”

Hence, the above information proves that the video of Bangladeshi refugees vandalising a railway station in NOT of Kolkata, West Bengal.
