Fact-Check: Protest against CAB at Mohammed Ali rd Mumbai? Here’s the truth

Date:

A picture is doing rounds on social media claiming an anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill protest was held at Mohammed Ali Road in Mumbai.

We also came across a similar post on Facebook.

At the time of filing the report, the above post had above 3,000 likes and more than 11,000 shares on Facebook.

FACT-CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture and found the claim attached to it to be FALSE.

Firstly, we did a Google search and found no reports of a protest held at Mohammed Ali Road, Mumbai.

We later did a simple Reverse Image Search of the viral image and the search results showed a November 10, 2019 video uploaded on YouTube channel called ‘MT Channel’ with the caption ”Jasne julus 2019 in chittagong.jasne julus”.

We found another video on jahedul alam Parvez YouTube channel that has shot the same video from a different angle.

According to report on October 29, 2019 by Dhaka Tribune, Eid-e-Miladunnabi was to be observed across Bangladesh on Sunday, November 10, 2019.

In conclusion, the comparison collage makes it clear that the viral image is from Chittagong, Bangladesh and not Mumbai.
