One does not feel thirsty in the winter as there is no perspiration.
However, your body still undergoes dehydration and for that water is
really necessary. Without water, your body functions in a less ideal
manner.Your skin becomes dry, saggy and patchy. Dark circles can also
be seen. You should drink at least 2 litres or half a gallon (8-10
glasses) of water every day.

2.       Limit your sun exposure

Sun provides us with Vitamin D which helps us fight diseases like skin
sclerosis and heart disease. It also helps us fight depression, boosts
weight loss and helps us keep our bones healthy and full of calcium.
Sun is the most natural source of Vitamin D. However, too much
exposure to the sun can be harmful. It can damage your skin by causing
burning and in severe cases, skin cancer. You should make sure you use
some good quality sunscreen and wear sunglasses.

Vitamin C is abundant in vegetables and fruits. It keeps away stress,
the risk of strokes and colds. A study found that higher vitamin C
intakes were associated with a lower likelihood of a wrinkled
appearance, dryness of the skin, and a better skin-ageing appearance.
The foods richest in vitamin C are citrus fruits, green peppers,
strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, white potatoes, and sweet potatoes.
Other good sources include dark leafy greens, cantaloupe, papaya,
mango, watermelon and pineapples.

4.       Avoid sugar

Sugar damages Collagen and Elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm
and elastic. Eating a lot of sugar does not only cause diabetes but
also early ageing or wrinkling. You should cut back on the sugar diet,
be careful of the hidden sugar in your food and include Vitamins B1
and B6 in your diet. Aerated drinks are one among many harmful sugar
products as it has artificial forms of sugar.

cause of wrinkle formation. An Antioxidant is a substance that
inhibits oxidation, especially one used to counteract the
deterioration of stored food products. Antioxidants help in scar
treatment and repair of sun damage. Foods having antioxidants include-

There are remains of toxins in the body due to the air, water and food

that causes damage to the body as well as ageing. Detoxing by way of a
juice cleanse is recommended for the body to be able to focus on
energy production and eliminating toxins. These toxins can cause acne
and dry skin as well. You should drink a glass of warm water with half

Healthy fats help in maintaining ‘good cholesterol’. Eating saturated or unsaturated fats in a bulk make the skin stretchy and may result in

keeping your skin young and away from ageing. These items include-

·         Flax seeds

·         Olive oil

·         Nuts

Physical health means mental health. Exercise causes sweating that
takes out all the toxins from inside the skin to the outside. It leads
to cleaner and firmer skin. It’s the best way to keep your skin
healthy. Make sure you go for walks, meditate, do yoga and play some
sport.

10.  Avoid using unnatural skin products

Acne is a part of growing up. Using harmful products to do away with
your pimples helps in no way. If you do have spots or pimples, rub
ground pepper or turmeric mixed with water on it. The spots will be
gone in 2-3 days. Harmful products have chemicals that damage your
skin. Make a natural face pack containing items like cream, turmeric
and Meliaceae (neem). Aloe Vera is also very helpful.
