Girl seen with Tamil beggars in Mangalore? No, this picture is from Bangladesh

Date:

A picture of a little girl is doing rounds on social media with a claim that she was seen in Mangalore with a group of Tamil beggars and her name is Sonal Bipin Patel.

“The beautiful girl was seen in mangalore with Tamil beggars pls forward until it reaches the right parent and she is identified. Found from a train coming Mumbai. Kindly Identified her. Her name is Sonal Bipin Patel, ” the text read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be false.

We noticed that the currency in her hands is slightly different than the Indian currency. We checked and found that the notes in her hand are Bangladeshi currency notes.

On putting the image through Reverse Image search, we found several articles based on a facebook post by Asif Akbar. The articles published in July 2019 states that the girl was kidnapped from Bagerhat city in Bangladesh nearly two years ago and this picture was taken Banani in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Contact details of the girl’s uncle were also mentioned in the post.

The above information proves that the viral image is from Bangladesh and not Mangalore.
